Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Cake

After the castle cake, I learned my lesson and the bottom two tiers of this cake are simply my cake pans overturned.  Only the top layer is cake.

My Jakey loved this cake!  He passed away two weeks later.  I almost didn't make it, because I was so horribly morning sick.  But I'm very grateful I spent the time making it.  His last birthday with us was so happy!

The Incredibles Cake

This was for my son's 3rd birthday.  He was obsessed with The Incredibles, and this cake was a complete surprise for him.  He loved it!

I used Wilton's largest square cake pan for the cake.  It is decorated with icing and Wilton Color Spray.  The Omnidroid was made from a styrofoam ball, plastic tubing, and icing.  This is still one of my very favorite cakes, even though I was in tears around midnight the night before, trying to tint icing to match some I'd run out of.  Since then, I always over estimate on my icing amounts!

Balloon Cake

And he got another cake for his birthday at home, since we were at my in-laws for the castle cake debacle.

Castle Cake

So when my oldest turned 5, he wanted a castle cake.  My ideas were far greater than my skill, but I still proceeded to make the biggest cake I've ever made.  It is ugly, but he loved it and I learned my lesson.  5 cake mixes, several packages of cookies and Kraft caramels, and two 5-lb buckets of frosting later, the whole thing was held together with a prayer!

Yes, I piped each stone.  I've never done such a thing again!
